Indie pop outfit modernlove. have brought us another anthemic funk pop track driven by powerful instrumentals and strong vocals. Born from small town boredom and talking about growing up, big nights out and young love, the band’s songs are all relatable and make us feel like we are understood.
For their latest release, the band collaborated with producer Tom Leach and bring a poppier sound then their previous material. They stay true to their established sound and bring another authentically uplifting and powerful track to out playlists. They explore a turbulent period of existential crisis and the questionable coping mechanisms that came alongside it. Wandering further into mental-health leaning themes, modernlove. are able to form a candid connection with their audience through the use of relatable storytelling and life experience through a youthful lens.
About the inspiration behind the song, modernlove. said: “‘Don’t Feel Myself’ is about going through bouts of disassociation, existential crisis and having a crisis of identity compounded with unhealthy lifestyle choices and coping mechanisms. The song recognises that these things we do to cope only give us fleeting moments of relief from what afflict us and end up feeding them in the end in a vicious cycle. They’re a temporary bandage on a much more permanent wound.”
