Euan Blackman – Butterfly

A sweetly introspective new pop single was released by Euan Blackman. ‘Butterfly’ is taken from his upcoming EP ‘Thunderstorms’ and builds on his warm and soft voice and a simplistic soundscape. The Liverpool-based singer, songwriter, and musician creates simple yet soothing tracks with lyrics coming from dark places. “I’m on a sonic path that I’m excited to continue to grow and develop.” These comforting sonic sounds bring an emotive hook to our playlists and we’re here for it.

IST IST – The Kiss

A new and thrilling new rock track was released by goth rock outfit IST IST. ‘The Kiss’ is their latest and potentially most catchy release to date. The song is a steadily building, uplifting and energetic track utilising the band’s signature crooning vocals. ‘The Kiss’ comes with a video showing the band’s grand and powerful live show in the form of short clips of previous live shows. Rich and flavourful like a bar of dark chocolate, IST IST are a tad addictive.

Blair Davie – Prague

Blair Davie have returned with powerful and passionate single ‘Prague’, with its soaring vocal delivery the track is instantly captivating and shows their talent which in the past got them a nomination for the Ivors’ Rising Star Award 2024. About ‘Prague’, Blair said: “‘Prague’ is about the realisation that it doesn’t matter where you are, anywhere can feel like home.” The song and its colourful musical palette perfectly translates the feeling of home!

David C Clements – Reckless

Powerful and passionate vocals lead us through ‘Reckless’ which is David C Clements’ latest indie rock ballad driven by gorgeous and colourful arrangements that deliver warm overall sound. The Northern Irish musical innovator has made his long-awaited return with ‘Reckless’ and returned euphorically. His rich and majestic sound is mesmerising and turned us into a fan of Clements. “It’s an all encompassing song about love. To love and be loved. The highs, the lows and the joy of the normalities of everyday life.”

Queen Cult – Stop Calling

Queer alternative rock band Queen Cult have just released their powerful and piercing new track ‘Stop Calling’. It’s an instantly gratifying track with grand vocals and a heavy soundscape a la The Aces. Written by lead singer and founder Maisie Johnson, ‘Stop Calling’ once again showcases her prowess as a songwriter. On the single Johnson says, “It came about when I witnessed someone receiving unwanted attention and they felt frustrated that their boundaries were being constantly crossed. Sometimes you just want to tell someone to shut the f*ck up!”

Bad Nerves – You Should Know By Now

Bad Nerves just announced their sophomore album and released single ‘You Should Know By Now’. Their sound and the red thread throughout their new release is thundering alt rock and sharp vocals. Throw in some hints of punk and some very powerful lyrics, and you have this caffeinated new release. “‘You Should Know By Now’ is a song about snapping your rear-view mirror off and shoving it down your throat to try and catch an inside glimpse of the knife as it stabs you in the back.”

ivies – hardly my fault

Durham-based dream pop outfit ivies have released their EP ‘hardly my fault’ and with there wandering alternative pop sound we celebrate spring! The band only formed last year but have already established a confident sound and soundscapes driven by warm key tones and fragile-sounding lead vocals. The band pulls at our heartstrings with the release of this EP. The EP builds on the theme of feeling sick, whether that be mentally, physically, or emotionally…

Ceremony Shadows – Resistance

A thumping new electronic rock track was released by Ceremony Shadows, strong vocals and a funky soundscape bring a refreshing sound to our monthly Round Up! “Resistance is always futile. What you resist persists. Trust that resistance exists to push us to obliterate limitations.” ‘Resistance’ is a dark electronically-infused new wave track and is due to make an appearance on the upcoming album!

Make Friends – Loaded Fun

Eclectically upbeat, soft and funky single ‘Loaded Fun’ is the latest by Bristol-band alternative pop band Make Friends. The song is a slowly building, subtle yet colourful indie track with warm vocals and some driving samples giving the song and its soundscape an energising sound. The song is carefully eccentric and convincingly confident. “‘Loaded Fun’ is a post break up song. The track depicts a relationship where one person has fallen into bad habits, and after everything has broken down, you reflect upon what went wrong. The title ‘Loaded Fun’ depicts having “fun” but at a cost, in this instance using drugs excessively to enjoy the company of your partner.”
