Northumberland songwriter, poet and raconteur Peter Alexander Jobson has released his latest single ‘Please Please Please’ and it is a stunning piece of alternative pop.
Crooning vocals and a subtle, string-driven soundscape completely mesmerise us and make ‘Please Please Please’ another swooping statement from Peter Alexander Jobson. A warm intro leads us into a dreamy, misty forest, guided by the soft voice of Jobson, we do as he says and let him lead us through this hazy rock release.
“So, if Homer’s Odyssey is anything to go by, the correct way to request assistance and be a proper supplicant you must kneel before your preferred provider of favours, fold your arms around their knees and wash their feet,” reflects Peter. “If you really want to go to town, wash their feet with your own tears and dry them with your hair. The rules of the game appear to be that if you present yourself in such a manner it is impossible to be refused. I thought this would be useful to reiterate. Hence the last verse. This song to me is a friend with their hand on your shoulder saying “Yes” and assuring you everything will be ok’.”
‘Please Please Please’ was produced by Ben Christophers and features Elbow’s Guy Garvey on backing vocals, and comes with a stripped-down performance video filmed at Salford’s Blueprint Studios. The single is taken from his debut solo album ‘Burn The Ration Books Of Love’ which is due to be released on the 15th of November. If the upcoming album is anything like this swooning and angelic piece of rocking pop, we’ll be fans of the first hour.
