This week will see the light of day of the new The Celtic Social Club’s single ‘Remember Joe Strummer’. The single will be released on limited edition red vinyl on the 21st of August, Joe Strummer’s birthday. Joe Strummer was the lead singer of The Clash and died on 22 December 2002. The Celtic Social Club is paying tribute to the best punk rock singer of its time.
The song will be the second single from the success album ‘From Babylon to Avalon’.
‘Remember Joe Strummer’ is a cheerful summer song and combines the typical Celtic Social Club’s Celtic sound with reggae influences in the style of The Clash.
As a true homage, we hear Joe Strummer calling out at the end of the song saying “We have to breathe Rebel Rock”.
The benefits of the single will go to the Joe Strummer Foundation. Joe Strummer’s wife Lucinda is very pleased with the song and the gesture of donating the money to the foundation. The mission of the Joe Strummer Foundation is to provide opportunities to musicians and support projects around the world that create empowerment through music.
For everyone without a vinyl-player, you can listen to ‘Remember Joe Strummer’ online just as well.
