I was looking for something up tempo, an angry punk tune when I ran into Azu Yeché who immediately changed the course of my search. Azu instantly gave me goosebumps with his slow but soulful voice that hits every note. I couldn’t forget about his thrilling voice and decided I had to share his new single ‘Lagos’, taken from the EP ‘Ikwerre Road’.
With mind blowing harmonies and striking piano-play, ‘Lagos’ is a breathtaking, heartbreaking story about Yeché who moved to England as a 10 year old after his brother was stabbed in a horrific attack. “The sudden estrangement from my family led to some of the scars which I confront in this song.”
The charismatic singer has previously received attention BBC 6 Music, Fubar Radio, Earmilk and BBC Introducing and promises to be receiving a lot more attention in the near future with the release of ‘Ikwerre Road’.
