There is more to Bert Brett than meets the eye, new single ‘Shame’ confronts toxic masculinity and the upcoming accompanying video was made and will be released in aid of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). The up-and-comer is based in South London and has already been praised by Amazon Music, even though not having been around for long. ‘Shame’ shows his laid back indie pop style, an unworried attitude and a catchy rhythm supporting the spoken word-like vocals.
‘Shame’ builds on tickling hooks and a well structured soundscape, while talking about battling mental health and not having to be ashamed of your struggles. To support this message even more, Bert is running a crowdfunding campaign around the video for ‘Shame’ to raise money for CALM, and to raise awareness in aid of male mental health. The video was shot in an abandoned London theatre and I can’t wait to see the result! For now, the single on Spotify will have to do.
