Recently I got told that one of my favourite easy-listening Britpop bands had disbanded, luckily the hole that left was quickly filled by Sunderland-based indie pop outfit Docksuns. Latest single ‘Blew Up A Kiss’ is remarkably similar to that of the last album Dutch Britpop band Electric Company released. An easy earwig, catchy and hard to shake off. With influences from some of the indie greats, Docksuns take their most successful parts and blend them together in a saucy new sound.
Lyricist James Baxter says about the single: “fuelled by an explosive breakup the chorus delves into the scene after an ‘incident’ with attempted suicide and coupled with a quote from a Martin Luther King speech in which he talks about violence and freedom, really fitting for this track.”
For fans of early Blossoms, Noel Gallagher, The Amazons and Circa Waves.
