February Round Up

Pat Donnelly – Seeing Your Face Again

Tipperary-based artist Pat Donnelly just released his brand new acoustic pop punk ‘Seeing Your Face Again’, it’s a soaring and powerful stripped back track driven by his striking voice. Layered guitars and earnest lyrics are similar to the acoustic pop punk era Donnelly hopes to revive. On the track he reflects on the feelings that return when seeing an ex again after a long time. “The lyrics discern the importance of finding happiness and not letting go of it, no matter what feelings pass through.”

Tennessee Frisky – The End

Tennessee Frisky’s first single ‘The End’ is a harmonious retro pop rock track introducing the band with suave and a danceable rhythm! The Washinton DC-based band have been taking their hometown by storm and two more singles are due to be released after ‘The End’, which is kind of ironic. The song’s title stands directly against what the song embodies; which is only the beginning… Written during the height of the pandemic this song is about loneliness, the tendency of friendships to fizzle out, and the desire to have friends reach out to you.

Kalpetrane – Heartbleed

An incredibly catchy bass line opens the doors to Kalpetrane’s ‘Heartbleed’, the track is a mantra-like new wave slash rock song with sharp vocals and a shimmering synth-driven soundscape. Their sound is sometimes melancholic, often gloomy, but always danceable! An EP is due to be out on the 1st of March, and with the captivating ‘Heartbleed’ to give us a sneak peak and make us eager for the EP to arrive.

high jump – Tide Away (feat. Jamie Maier)

A warm and alternative dream pop song is the product of a collaboration between high jump and Jamie Maier. ‘Tide Away’ is a softly spoken, hazy alternative track with a sweet and soothing soundscape and hints of shimmer throughout. The delicate single is taken from their upcoming debut EP and continues to build on the electronic dream pop sound that’s gained them support across the world. ‘Tide Away’ is mesmerising and calming.

Tyson Ray Borsboom – Live and Learn

Love a pair of dark and crooning vocals? Here’s Tyson Ray Borsboom. His latest ‘Live and Learn’ is an instantly captivating alt pop single with beautifully dark, rough-around-the-edges vocals guided by soft guitar-driven compositions. ‘Live and Learn’ is about the struggles of finding a life partner and the issues we face along the way. “There are lessons you learn after trying and failing time and time again until one day you hopefully get it right.”

The Warning – S!CK

A riff can never truly be a bad one, and The Warning have made good use of riffs on their latest punk rock track ‘S!CK’. It is a dark and rambling rock track with subtle vocals and a confident attitude making us want to share the stage with The Warning, just feel like we’re part of a cool rock’n’roll band even if it’s just for a night… The track comes ahead of a massive European tour in April and we’re told there’s lots more music on the way!

Bonheur – Another Dirtbag

Stuttgart- and Berlin-based indie rock outfit Bonheur have kicked off a new musical chapter with the release of the pensive and honest ‘Another Dirtbag’. Its thought-provoking lyrics are highlighted through a soaring and thumping guitar rock soundscape and hazy vocals combined with subtle harmonies. The debut single is questioning our performance-driven society and encourages listeners to reflect on the current mental health debate…

By The Waves – Looking Up

‘Looking Up’ is the new anthemic indie rock track by By The Waves, a journey from the beginning until the end, sharp and cut-through vocals lead us through the musical soundscape the British alt rock band have created. ”In a rapidly changing world it’s easy to feel like you only exist if you have the latest clothing, only for it to be outdated the following week. ‘Looking Up’ is a reminder that life is hard, but that there is beauty all around us if we can stay humble and not get too cynical even when the light seems like a speck on the horizon.”
