Lewis McLaughlin – Human Beings

One of our favourite Scottish artists is back with a soft and subtle, warm indie pop single. Lewis McLaughlin mesmerised previously at a Sofar Sounds show in Newcastle and has been captivating us since with every new release he’s put out. His latest is single ‘Human Beings’, a slowly building, sweet and dynamic, engaging alternative pop release building on his warm voice and a simplistic soundscape.

A beautifully soft and intricate new release makes us having to listen and pay attention to the song writer that brings us these short stories coming straight from the heart. Fans of Flyte, Big Thief, and Aldous Harding will have a great time soaking in the softness of ‘Human Beings’. Though soft, heart-breaking at the same time; “this song will break your heart and put it back together again. During covid isolation one winter, ‘Human Beings’ was born on the old piano that was in my flat at the time. It’s fucking good to be alive, but sometimes we need a reminder; this is the message that echoes through ‘Human Beings’, that life can be difficult, and carrying on can seem pointless at times, but that it’s so important to try to find the positives, even in the darkest of times.”

‘Human Beings’ will also appear on the upcoming second album, and is its lead single. ‘A Hope In Fear’ will be out on the 2nd of August on Monohands Records.
