After years of seeing the same ol’ lad-rock festival bills in the UK, that lack diversity across the board, Syd For Solen are in Denmark pushing the boat out with some of the most exciting alternative acts out there at the moment.
After a long break, The XX recently made a triumphant live return in Mexico; I’ve been itching to get a chance to see them for almost a decade now, and there’s no better setting than outdoors in Copenhagen. Lorde is another headliner, fresh off the back of her latest album Virgin, which could be her best yet, she is known for putting on an incredible live show with plenty of sing-along anthems. Sombr is another fresh faced headliner who has a busy summer ahead after some extraordinary success with the singles Back To Friends and 12 to 12.
They’ve also pinned down two of the most exciting rock acts touring at the moment, Geese & TURNSTILE, at a time where tickets for their solo shows are like gold dust. Their two sets will be major highlights of the weekend. Amyl & The Sniffers & Wednesday are also playing – two acts that occupy wildly different areas of the current music landscape, but are all wholly worth seeing live. This is a marker of a great festival as they’re both guaranteed to put on a great, energetic show.
There’s also plenty of up and coming acts to discover further down the bill like Fckers and Horsegirl. But with a bill curated like this, I’m sure no act is on there by accident, and there won’t be a single act that isn’t worth your time watching.
