Laguz – Dawns Oluf

Following their 2024 debut ‘A View From Down Below’, Dutch folk trio Laguz returns with ‘Songs for Taliesin’ (April 2026), a compact triptych diving deep into Welsh mythology. Its stunning lead single, ‘Dawns Oluf’, is a wonderful, angelic masterpiece that serves as the perfect introduction to my new favourite band.

Sound-wise, the single crystallizes the artistic aesthetic Laguz first presented on their debut, seamlessly weaving archaic traditions with contemporary production. It builds a dream folk-fuelled soundscape that feels beautifully nostalgic, instantly evoking the spirit of genre titans I grew up with, like Omnia, Faun, and Sowulo.

By blending ancient folklore with a modern melodic edge, Laguz breathes new life into old myths. ‘Dawns Oluf’ is an enchanting, hauntingly beautiful release that establishes this trio as a mandatory listen for anyone seeking folk music that is both deeply rooted and refreshively cinematic.
