The Outcast Crew – This Could Be The Way

Following their critically acclaimed 2021 debut ‘Myths and Yarns’, Ireland’s raucous trad-punk six-piece, The Outcast Crew, explodes back onto the scene with their sophomore album, ‘Rovin’ Again’. The record brilliantly fuses the raw energy of 70s punk icons like The Clash with the traditional mastery of The Pogues.

Its standout track, ‘This Could Be The Way’, is a stunning punk-folk release that highlights the band’s new, organic jamming process. I absolutely love the uplifting power of the Irish traditional elements, which are seamlessly woven together with stunning yet sharp guitar lines. The track features exceptionally strong spoken vocals that drive a captivating, storytelling narrative, making the song incredibly addictive to listen to.

As a massive fan of the spiritual folk sounds native to Ireland and Scotland, this track is a refreshing breath of fresh air. It instantly transports me back to the vibrant energy of the music festivals I frequented in my younger years, such as Castlefest and Keltfest in the Netherlands. While it deeply makes me miss those festival grounds, the music simultaneously wraps around you, making you feel very much at home.
