Benjamino – Clutching At Shadows
A groovy, fulfilling and slightly mysterious new track has been released by seven-piece Benjamino. The band is inspired by artists such as Rex Orange County and Father John Misty and are showcasing a jazzy, brass-fuelled sound. ‘Clutching At Shadows’ combines those brass ensembles with soothing and smooth vocals, unexpected hooks and a mellow yet infectious rhythm. It is one to bop along to and a surprise every other time you listen to it, surprised in all the best ways.
Jagd – Attention
Dutch alternative rock outfit Jagd have released a new fast paced, intriguing and passionate single, ‘Attention’ is demanding your attention! Its relentless sound in combination with front babe Nanne’s fine-tuned peculiar vocals bring us a story about dealing with the worst parts of oneself. It’s the second single of their upcoming debut album which promises to be more hooky noise. I can’t wait to experience this power outfit live again!
Gravity Circus – Shuteye
Another Dutch power outfit, but in a totally different way, is Gravity Circus. ‘Shuteye’ is a dreamy, almost hypnotic pop song with a hook that is hard to get out of your head. The band wrote their latest release some time ago yet it fits the current situation rather well. “The song is about a life of solitude & alienation, all while craving for a new start and overthink on the past, that now hurts to think about. Shut your eyes and try to let the music drift you away.”
Docksuns – Dancing On The Radio
North East-based polished indie rock band Docksuns have just released their new single ‘Dancing On The Radio’. It’s a rather soothing, infectious yet chilled out track that is built around their raspy, easing main vocals and a soundscape that is filled with harmonies and guitar riffs. The band only formed at the beginning of last year but have been making waves since, as well as creating a sound that is unique to theirs using with a hint of early The Kooks and a slowed down Miles Kane.
Artio – All Things End
Leeds-based alternative pop trio Artio first appeared on my radar when they supported local heroes Twist Helix during their headline show at The Cumberland Arms. With new single ‘All Things End’ they will definitely be staying on my radar, their inventive, unique and rather personal sounds is one that warms my heart and makes me relive memories of Within Temptation-style live shows. ‘All Things End’ is a blend of soaring vocals, a grand and filling soundscape and a big bucket filled with passion for alternative music!
