2in1: Wesley Attew & The Wivez

Wesley Attew – Always The Same

Vancouver-based singer songwriter Wesley Attew just released the second single of his forthcoming EP, ‘Always The Same’ is a well-structured, fragile piece of pop. Written with a lot of emotion and feeling for infectious music, the young musician wrapped me in his arms and only let go at the end of ‘Always The Same’. Think a combination of James Bay and George Ezra, a younger and slightly raspier version of Tom Odell but first and foremost very Wesley Attew. Until there is more I will be enjoying ‘Always The Same’, cup of tea in my hands, sitting in the window seat, looking outside, pretending to be in a gloomy music video.

The Wivez – Take You Higher

Be lifted and taken higher by The Wivez, who have just released their new super infectious and fast paced track ‘Take You Higher’. A positive sounding brass-filled anthem with a colourful musical pallet is what is currently lifting my spirits, The Wivez know how to bring the party to an empty room. It is an 80’s inspired piece of whistle-along pop induced with hints to modern indie pop. I wish I would have been able to see the band live before the pandemic hit, or during… Or after, anytime if it would be up to me! Sadly the band is based in Canada and I am unsure about their plans for an upcoming world tour… Until a world tour is in the star I’ll be enjoying ‘Take You Higher’ and enjoy a party for one in my living room!
