Manchester-based garage rock outfit Freedom Of The City have just released new single ‘Scream’ which comes with a complementing video. The single is a lot louder and heavier than what I usually cover, but I just couldn’t shake their soaring and ever-changing soundscape off! It is loud, convincing and energetic and the semi-lyric video that comes with it actually adds to the bands’ story, and I honestly do not see that happen often.
Freedom Of The City shows us what life was like before 2020 and seem to not have been beaten down by any of it at all. ‘Scream’ is a combination of grand stadium rock, and an anthemic electronically-driven alternative pop sound. It is a sometimes overwhelming yet concise sound and the single is filled with the unexpected hooks I always long for. Have a look and listen below!
