A beautiful, fragile and thought through single has been released by Dutch artist HEBE. These piano versions give her sound and voice extra depth and emotion and make ‘Cards On The Table’ a slow paced, elegant piece of alternative folk pop. With this and previous releases, HEBE received praise from CLASH, Music Week and Earmilk, which is rather impressive for an emerging Dutch artist.
‘Cards On The Table’ is, besides the single, also the title of her acoustic EP which was released last week. It is filled with acoustic versions of the electro pop artists’ previously released singles. I am glad these songs were released separately from their originals since I am not the biggest fan of electronically-fuelled tracks. The piano version of single ‘Cards Om The Table’ is just that bit more filling and almost theatrical, a hazy and dreamy soundscape that brings out the best in the talented musician.
