I tried not to touch any pandemic and or isolation-related songs but now and again something comes along that is impossible to ignore. Jon Sandman is one of those impossible to ignore, his latest single ‘Selfless Isolation’ is a gently political but also deeply personal alternative folk track. Recorded, mixed and mastered over Christmas, the single sounds warm, yet lonely at times.
For a lover of singalongs, the accompanying video to ‘Selfless Isolation’ is a dream come true. Lyrics included, the video shows a humble and small performance in an attic in Cambridgeshire. Those vocals, nearly angelic harmonies and a simple soundscape that is most of all there to support the at times heart-breaking vocals make ‘Selfless Isolation’ a rather on-point soundtrack to isolation.
