TOLEDO will keep trying to break your heart. Drawing from the likes of Elliot Smith and Wilco, this indie rock duo capture resentment, frustration, and sadness within this immaculately crafted ballad. A straightforward minor key intro sets the mood as vocalists Daniel Alvarez and Jordan Dunn-Pilz showcase their keen ear for melody and their knack for aching harmonies. The band leaves plenty of room for the track to breathe as whispers of slide guitar and delicate chiming bells join emotional guitar leads on extended instrumental breaks throughout the run time. A restrained yet cinematic outro adds a panoramic, widescreen scope to this intimate number and speaks to TOLEDO’s gifts for arrangement. You won’t want to stop listening to this cut over and over again.
