Emerging Australian disco pop duo Barley Passable have just released their new EP ‘Hindsight’ alongside new single ‘Silver’, which is the second single on the five track counting EP. The overall feeling of this EP is uplifting and light-hearted and instantly brings a smile to my face. First single ‘Turnaround’ is a smooth and laid back single with a fuzzy disco / electro pop sound and gets followed by single ‘Silver (Unseen)’ which gives a slightly more experimental spin to electro pop!
The duo talk a bit about their view on the EP and how it should be interpreted: “‘Hindsight’ is all too human. Often painfully, this EP pulls the past into the now and helps one to see that looking back on even the most negative of situations can push growth and moment.” ‘Step Inside’ possibly translates that message best with an almost euphoric sound and electronic sounding vocals that brighten the mood at any time of day!
“This EP is our way of returning to various scenes over the last few years, from the first time we met, and speaking to these situations, as they still run on repeat in our minds. It is a constant reminder telling us to remember exactly who we are, to trust our heads and to be passionate and happy. Most importantly we hope it does the same for all who listen.” With every single song on the EP, and in particular light-weight alternative pop single ‘Forget’, the band bring this feeling of hope and happiness wrapped in their own and cosmic sound, with ‘For Now’ being the slower paced and almost dreamy end of Barley Passable’s latest collection of work that brings all songs together impressively well!
