The infectious indie pop of Said The Whale has brought a permanent smile to my face. Their newest release is single ‘Honey Lungs’, a song the band was able to make due to being away from a relentless touring cycle that had defined most of their 14-year career. The Vancouver group bring a decent and bubbly anthem, ‘Honey Lungs’ being an energising and enthusing pop song resembling a lot of what Dutch band De Staat bring their audience!
It’s crunchy, swaggering and very cool, I am quite disappointed in myself for not having had heard of Said The Whale before, as their sound is right up my street and the band have been around for years and years now. But, better late than never and ‘Honey Lungs’ is the perfect introduction of the bands’ sound!
