It has been a while since talented singer and musician Nathaniel Paul appeared on our radar and in our playlists and he hasn’t left since his first release! We know Nathaniel as a half of folk pop duo The Bergamot, however he has been establishing his own sound since he kicked of his solo career last year. His debut was ‘Virtues’, and with ‘Bitter Melody’ he releases the seventh of his solo releases. The single is due for release tomorrow but today you can already listen to ‘Bitter Melody’, exclusively on Music For The Misfits!
“Some people can just sleep all-day. I’ve been trying, but I lay awake.” Despite it’s bittersweet and open-hearted message, Nathaniel’s new single sounds festive and upbeat. A light-hearted sound supports his message, giving the single a little extra depth and makes you want to listen again. Soft thumping drums and high pitched, catchy guitar lines make for a soft and warm soundscape and subtly dress Nathaniel’s vocals.
‘Bitter Melody’ is also due to appear on the singer songwriter’s second album which is due for release in the spring of 2022. Nathaniel Paul made the most out of the past few months, 45 songs have been written during those past months. “There was an abundance to write about – these are pretty dire times. But we have to retain some level of hope for the future.” This hopeful sound will hopefully be in abundance on his upcoming release!
