A fragile and bittersweet new single was released by SAPPHIRE. Her latest ‘call u mine’ is a beautiful and minimalistic folk pop song with sharp vocals and a sweet, piano-driven soundscape. Slowly building towards a theatrical and warm crescendo, the first half of the track truly does what its there for; to engage its listener.
‘call u mine’ is an emotive pop ballad and will be followed by a debut EP. Her contemporary pop sound is simplistic yet grandiose in its storytelling, ‘call u mine’ being the perfect example of that sound. The song is an empathic portrayal of heartbreak: “I really wanted this song to mimic the feeling of falling in love – that warm fuzzy feeling that we’ve all experienced in some way. But even though the production mirrors that feeling, the lyrics explain how it’s not always happily ever after.”
She’s truly found the sound that will captivate not just us, but certainly many more. ‘call u mine’ listens like a secret, something she’s not entirely sure she wants to share yet, but since its emotions are so universal, we’re glad she shared it with us. SAPPHIRE translated feelings we’ve not always been able to face, into song, which resulted in a mesmerising single.
