Grand Canyon’s Favourites

Grand Canyon is the antithesis of modern music, they focus on timeless song writing and draw inspiration from the classic sounds and arrangement of the 70’s, “it is the kind of music that will be wafting through the canyons for a long time.” Their new album ‘Forevermore’ is due for release this fall, so, time for us to ask them some questions!

Where do you find new music?

Aside from friends telling me what they’re into, there’s a radio station in LA – 88.5FM SoCal – that’s the closest thing to a classic radio station. Real DJs actually picking songs, so you hear a really diverse selection of new and old music not just the same 8 songs on repeat etc. They’re often the best source of finding new music.

What is your favourite place to listen and write music?

I have a home studio that’s great for both, but I also have a record player in the house and it’s generally on and playing albums in the background of my day.

What activity are you unable to do without music?

Yard work or driving.

What are your favourite things to do besides music?

Listen to podcasts and gardening. I’ve got a lot of roses around our home, so it’s constant work keeping them healthy and blooming.

What are currently your ten favourite songs by emerging artists?

Does Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Paul Simon, CSNY, and Tom Petty count as emerging artists?
