Dan Croll is releasing his new album ‘Fools’ on the 19th of May on Communion Records, as we don’t yet get to sink our teeth into an entire work of art by the exciting musician, we now focus on recently released single ‘Slip Away’. The track is a taster, a sneak peek on what is to come, a catchy and warm alternative pop track with an exciting beat and subtle vocal lines.
His upcoming album ‘Fools’ documents recent events with warmth and wit and helps him to decide which direction to take, on ‘Slip Away’ he seems to turn towards a bass-heavy, eclectic and colourful sound that is influenced by sounds of pop indie and rock! On the inspiration behind his upcoming album, Dan said: “This album came at the end of a turbulent few years for me with the isolation of covid, a break-up, and the homesickness for all that I left behind to move to America. But whilst these were all challenging moments there were some moments of beauty and resilience that allowed me to get through it all. These songs document that tumultuous period that not only I but I’m sure a lot of others went through in what can only be described as a challenging moment in time.”
Despite the challenges, the doubt and the questioning, ‘Slip Away’ sounds surprisingly determined and with a sense of direction. This direction is that of groove-driven indie pop, of which we hope to hear more on future releases! The single perfectly illustrates the next chapter in Dan Croll’s musical career, moving away from the acoustic ballads and soft singer songwriter aesthetic. We are excited to see this creative path more explored on the upcoming album!
